Choose a Company that is Medium-Sized

The size of the company is important because you want to balance capacity with customer service. A small company can be attractive because they can give you personalized service. However, they may be too small to handle the big projects and management challenges that you need. If the property manager in a one-person office goes on vacation, who will cover the repairs that your tenants need or the issues that may arise? Research a Company’s Reputation

Look at a property management company’s reputation. Contact the Better Business Bureau, and see what people are saying about them. If a company has an A+ rating, they are probably pretty decent. You also want to contact the Texas Real Estate Commission to make sure the property manager’s license is up to date. In Texas, it’s a requirement that property management companies and leasing companies are licensed through the Texas Real Estate Commission.
